Bobur Nazarmuhamedov, a graduate of 2011 of the MA Programme in Politics and Security (Central Asia) from Uzbekistan, shares his story of the professional achievements he reached. He currently works as a Programme Officer at the International Labour Organization (ILO) Headquarters in Geneva. Prior to joining ILO, he has held diverse professional positions in different sectors such as private sector, NGOs, international organizations.

On June 24 the OSCE Academy and CABAR.asia, a project of the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) in Central Asia, jointly organized an international online discussion on the “Implications of COVID-19 on Climate Change”. The main questions targeted the pandemic's impact on climate change and how economies will be able to catch up and grow without affecting the environment.

During the studies at the OSCE Academy, aside from being taught by excellent lecturers and professors, students have an opportunity to meet many experts and practitioners, who join the classes as guest lecturers. Distance learning allows to break geographical borders and expand the circle of experts. On 16 June students of the MA Programme in Economic Governance and Development met experts from the OSCE in Vienna - Mr. Daniel Kroos and Ms. Giulia Manconi.

From 15 till 19 June students of the MA Programme in Politics and Security met seven experts within the module “Migration and Human Trafficking” taught by Dr. Daniel Leitch. One of the first Guest Lecturers was Ms. Raushan Bolotalieva, Academy alumna of 2011 and currently the National Programme Manager at UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Kyrgyzstan, who presented the activities of the UNODC in the field of Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants.

We would like to present a success story of Danat Tumabayev from Kazakhstan, an alumnus of the OSCE Academy MA Economic Governance and Development, class of 2017. Today, Danat is working as Zhas Orken specialist at the subsidiary of Sovereign Wealth Fund «Samruk-Kazyna» JSC, which initiated a contest amongst the graduates for participation in the two-year Zhas Orken program that aims to attract and prepare future executives and top managers.

Another success story of our alumna from Afghanistan in our recurrent Alumni Spotlight series. This time MA Programme in Politics and Security graduate of 2013, Hafasa Issa talks about how her professional journey was unfolding after graduating from the Academy. She is currently working for the UN as a Human Rights Officer in Afghanistan and does an important job of promoting access to justice for women, fostering human rights protection across Afghanistan and dealing with the elimination of violence against women.
