Description
The seminar examines emerging forms of online nihilistic violence and their relationship to hybrid radicalisation. It explores how individuals and online communities combine elements from different subcultures, narratives and ideological repertoires, including nihilism, misogyny, grievance, conspiracy narratives and the glorification of violence.

Drawing on recent cases, the presentation examines how radicalisation can develop through decentralised and non-linear pathways that cross conventional ideological boundaries. It focuses on the interaction between online subcultures, identity and grievance, dehumanising and nihilistic narratives, and the circulation and normalisation of violent content across online and offline environments, including processes of imitation and reproduction of violent models.

The discussion considers what these emerging patterns mean for understanding radicalisation and violent extremism, with particular attention to their relevance for Central Asia.
